LYDIA. Thyateira. Eumenes III (Aristonikos), pretender to the throne of Pergamon, 133-130 BC. Cistophoric Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 12.33 g), Β = year 2 = 132/131. Basket (cista mystica) from which snake coils; around, ivy wreath with fruits. Rev. Two snakes coiled around a bow case; to left, ΘΥA; to right, laureate (?) head to right (Apollo?); between snakes heads, thunderbolt; across the snakes, ΒΑ - Β - ΕΥ. DCA 353. Kleiner & Noe Series 1 (dies 1/-). Robinson, Cistophori 3 (dies A/-). Rare. Clear, sharp and attractive. Extremely fine.
