IONIA. Phokaia. Circa 478-387 BC. Hekte (Electrum, 11 mm, 2.56 g), c. early 470s. Bald and wreathed head of Silenos facing, with wide, open eyes, broad beard and long mustache; to left, seal swimming upwards. Rev. Quadripartite incuse square. BMC 3. Bodenstedt 43 f/η ( this coin ). Traité I, pl. IV, 18). Nearly extremely fine.

From a Swiss collection, ex Numismatica Ars Classica 97, 12 December 2016, 293, Morton & Eden 59, 13 November 2012, 748, and Leu 13, 29-30 April 1975, 237 ( sold then for 14,000 CHF ).
