Description

IONIA. Uncertain mint. Circa 600-550 BC. Stater (Electrum, 22 mm, 14.31 g), Lydo-Milesian standard. Forepart of a bridled horse to left; in field to left, rosette; on back of head, countermark (?). Rev. Two small irregular incuse squares flanking a tall, rectangular incuse. ACGC 56. Fischer-Bossert, Horses 2 k ( this coin, dies H2/H1-H3 ). Cf. SNG Kayhan 1, 714. Weidauer 138-139. An attractive, sharp and lightly toned example. Minor marks, otherwise, about extremely fine.
