KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 27 mm, 16.96 g, 9 h), uncertain mint in Greece or Macedonia, 310-275. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on a throne with a back, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, monogram of ΣΤΕΙ; below throne, and strut, monogram of ΛΟΥ. Price 817. Bright and clear. Nearly extremely fine.
