ATTICA
Athens. Circa 135/4 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31mm, 16.75 g 12), New Style, Mened..., Epigeno... and Philo... Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos. Rev. ΑΘΕ /ΜΕΝΕΔ / ΕΠΙ / ΓΕΝΟ / ΦΙΛΟ Owl standing facing on amphora; to left, Asklepios standing to left; on amphora, Γ (= 3rd month); below amphora, ΓΛ (= contractor’s initials). Thompson 349f. A bright and attractive example. Obverse lightly struck from a slightly rusty die, otherwise , extremely fine. From a European collection, formed before 2005.
