Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Stater (Gold, 18mm, 8.53 g 12), Sinope, c. 230-200. Head of Athena to right, wearing triple- crested Corinthian helmet adorned with serpent on the bowl, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Nike standing to left, holding olive wreath in her right hand and stylis in her left; to left, kantharos above monogram. Price 1218. A most attractive and well-struck example. Good extremely fine. From a European collection formed in the earlier 1980s.
