GREEK COINS
CARTHAGINIANS IN SICILY
Carthage. Circa 270-264 BC. Trihemistater (Gold, 22mm, 12.51 g 12). Head of Tanit to right, wearing grain wreath, triple-pendant earring and necklace of pendants. Rev. Horse standing right, his head turned back to left. BM Guide, pl. 52, 34 ( same dies ). Jenkins & Lewis Group IX, 377. A lovely clear and well-struck example, from the first die pair of the series. Some very minor marks, otherwise , extremely fine. From the Chrysos Collection, acquired in Geneva in 1980, and from the Tunis Hoard of 1948.
