SICILY
The Sikeliotes, circa 214-213 BC. 8 Litrai (Silver, 20mm, 6.84 g 12), Morgantina. Head of Persephone to left, wearing wreath of grain ears and veil; behind, holly-leaf. Rev. ΣIKEΛIΩTAN Nike, holding goad in her right hand and the reins in both, driving galloping quadriga to right; above, monogram. Burnett 110. Erim & Jaunzems II. SNG ANS 1168. An attractive, toned and well-struck coin. Extremely fine. From a collection in Ticino, formed over 20 years ago, ex Sternberg XIX, 18 November 1987, 76.
