European Medals from 1513 to 1788
Holy Roman Empire. Charles VII, 1742-1745. Medal (Silver, 44mm, 29.58 g 12), on his election as Kaiser in Frankfurt on 24 January, 1742, by Andreas Vestner in Nuremberg, 1742. CAROLVS VII.D-G-ROM.IMP. SEMP.AVG. Laureate and cuirassed bust of Charles VII to right, wearing Order of the Golden Fleece; below bust, VESTNER. Rev. CÆSAREVM ACCEDIT REGIS DIADEMA CORONÆ Rayed triangle with eye of God above a crowned and wreathed shield, inscribed CARO/LVS./VII., supported by the imperial double-headed eagle and the lion of Bavaria; in exergue, ELECTVS ROM.IMP. / XXIV.IAN.MDCCXLII. Bernheimer 324. Förschner 258. JuF 719. Witt. 1878. Toned and attractive. Some minor scratches and marks, otherwise , good extremely fine.
