Aetius, Metropolitan of Antioch and Syngellos, c. 10th - 11th century. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 24 mm, 10.17 g, 12 h). MP - ΘY Nimbate, facing bust of the Virgin Mary, orans and bearing a medallion with the facing head of infant Jesus. Rev. + ΘKE BOHΘ'AETIO MPOΠOΛIT ANTIOXH/AC S CYΓKEMΩ in six lines. Very sharp, but bent and surfaces cracked, otherwise, extremely fine.

The name Aetios, if correctly read on this seal, is not attested in any list of the Patriarchs of Antioch. This is a very interesting seal.
