Description

Lucilla, Augusta, 164-182. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 31 mm, 20.56 g, 5 h), struck under Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus, Rome, circa 164-167. LVCILLAE AVG ANTONINI AVG F Draped bust of Lucilla to right. Rev. VENVS / S-C Venus standing front, her head turned to left, holding apple in her extended right hand and long vertical scepter with her left. BMC 1167 (Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus). Cohen 72. RIC 1763 (Marcus Aurelius). Dark patina. Cleaning marks, double-struck, and possibly some strengthening of the details on the hair, otherwise, very fine.
