Description

MYSIA. Cyzicus. Time of Gallienus, 253-260. Triassarion (Copper, 25.5 mm, 8.11 g, 5 h), Asklepiades. KYZIKOC Diademed head of the hero Kyzikos to right, with flowing hair; below neck, coiled serpent. Rev. ACKΛHΠIAΔOY KYZIKH-NΩN Demeter standing facing, head turned to left, holding grain ears and torch. CGB 28, (2007), 57 ( same dies ). SNG France -. SNG von Aulock 1249 var. ( this obverse die, but with Athena on the reverse ). An extremely rare unpublished variety. Very bold with a dark tan patina. Nearly extremely fine.

The obverse of this coin is stylistically close to the ones of the Koinon of Macedon, depicting Alexander the Great.
