Description
BRUTTIUM. Skylletion, or possibly a mercenary issue from Sicily. Circa 350-325 BC. (Bronze, 21 mm, 7.82 g, 10 h). Male head to left, wearing decorated pileus. Rev. Skylla swimming left. HN III 2565. SNG ANS 800. SNG Copenhagen 1992-3. Well centered. Very rare.
This issue has been attributed to the mint of Skylletion in Bruttium, but it may in fact be a mercenary issue from Sicily.
