LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 340-330 BC. Nomos or Didrachm (Silver, 20 mm, 7.80 g, 2 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing barley wreath, triple-pendant earring and a simple necklace, and with a light veil at the back of her head. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley with leave to right; to left, above leaf, kantharos; below, ΦI. BMC 125 ( same dies ). HN III 1568. Johnston Class A, 8.1 ( same dies ). Elegant, clear and beautifully toned; a choice example for this rare die combination. Good very fine.
