GREECE. Georgios I, 1863-1913. Pattern 1 Drachmi 1868 (Copper-Nickel, 23 mm, 5.00 g, 12 h), trial pattern of the reverse die Paris, struck from dies by Albert-Désiré Barre, plain edge. • ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ • Crowned and mantled coat of arms of the Kingdom of Greece; below, 1 ΔΡΑΧΜH. Rev. • ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ • Crowned and mantled coat of arms of the Kingdom of Greece; below, 1 ΔΡΑΧΜH. Divo - Karamitsos T.40. KM Pn30. Graded by NCS "UNC DETAILS / Damaged ". Cert number: 5058239-002.
The uniface pattern of the 1 Drachmi is by far scarcer than the uniface 2 drachmai pattern (Karamitsos T.43. KM Pn33), and only three examples have surfaces for over 20 years. It is interesting that the El-Greco collection which included a plethora of patterns of Georgios I, lacked this type and even Divo didn't note its existence. An example in similar condition but without scratches was sold in 2004 by Rauch for 10500 EUR.
