KYRENAIKA. Kyrene. Ophellas, Ptolemaic governor, first reign, circa 322-313 BC. Obol or 1/10 Stater (Gold, 7.5 mm, 0.85 g, 11 h), struck under the magistrate Chai(ris). Bearded head of Zeus Ammon to left, with ram's horn over his ear; in the field to right, behind Zeus's neck, XAI. Rev. Female head (the nymph Kyrene?) facing, wearing single-pendant earrings and turned slightly to the right. BMC 139 and pl. XV, 7 (= Naville 114g), Jameson 2532 ( = Naville 114p), Naville 114, and SNG Copenhagen 1213 (all from the same dies). Struck from very finely engraved dies of elegant style. Light marks, otherwise, very fine.
