KYRENAIKA. Kyrene. Circa 500-480 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 16.47 g, 3 h). Silphium plant; to right, inverted silphium fruit above ram (?) leaping to right. Rev. Head of griffin to right with coiled tongue; all within incuse square. Asyut Hoard -. Cf. BMC 21 (drachm with the same reverse). SNG Copenhagen -. Cf. Zagazig 249 (similar obverse but with a different reverse orientation). Extremely rare and apparently unpublished in the standard references. Rough surfaces with scratches, otherwise, good fine.
