NABATAEA. Aretas IV, with Huldu, 9 BC-AD 40. Drachm (Silver, 15.5 mm, 4.49 g, 12 h), Petra, regnal year 16-17 = AD 7/8-8/9. 'Aretas, king [of the Nabataeans]' (in Nabataean Aramaic) Laureate and draped bust of Aretas IV to right; in field to right, O. Rev. 'Huldu, queen[ [of the Nabataeans]' (in Nabataean Aramaic) Laureate, veiled and draped bust of Huldu to right; in field to right, monogram. Al-Qatanani 92-93. Barkay 143b-144. Meshorer, Nabataea -. A rare variety. Boldly struck and nicely toned. Edge cracks, otherwise, good very fine.
