Description

SELEUKID KINGS. Demetrios I Soter, 162-150 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 35 mm, 16.55 g, 12 h), Antioch on the Orontes, c. 162-155/4 BC. Diademed head of Demetrios I to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Tyche seated to left on throne supported by winged tritoness to right, holding cornucopia in her left hand and short sceptre in right; to exergue, monogram. HGC 9, 795f. SC 1638.2a. SMA 84. Old cabinet toning. Hairline flan crack and minor marks, otherwise, very fine.

From a German collection assembled during the second half of the 20th century, acquired from Girardi in 1983.
