Description

SELEUKID KINGS. Antiochos I Soter, 281-261 BC. Drachm (Silver, 18 mm, 4.24 g, 12 h), Seleukeia on the Tigris. Diademed head of Antiochos I to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΑΝΤΙΟΧΟΥ Apollo seated to left on omphalos, holding an arrow in his right hand and grounded bow in his left; to left field, monogram, to right field, [uncertain monogram]. HGC 9, 134a. SC 380.2. Attractively toned. Struck on a tight flan, otherwise, very fine.

From a German collection assembled during the second half of the 20th century, acquired from Kricheldorf in 1969.
