SICILY, Siculo-Punic. Motya. 415-397 BC. Litra (Silver, 7.5 mm, 0.67 g, 8 h). Facing gorgoneion. Rev. In Punic letters MT-[V'] palm tree. HGC 2, 936. Jenkins Punic Sicily I, pl. 23, 4a. SNG ANS 504. Rare; toned. Light scratches, otherwise, very fine.

From the Collection of Prof. James M. Collier, acquired from Ann Arbor Stamp & Coin in 2010.

This lot is sold to benefit the Collier Prize in Ancient Numismatics offered by the American Numismatic Society.

This issue is dated "circa 415-397 BC", which means the end-date coincides with the siege and sacking of Motya by Dionysios of Syracuse.
