Description

SICILY. Syracuse. Dionysios I, 405-367 BC. (Bronze, 19 mm, 6.95 g, 6 h). ΣΥΡΑ Head of Athena to left, wearing an olive-wreathed Corinthian helmet. Rev. Hippocamp to left, with reins. CNS II 45. HGC 2, 1456. Rough surfaces; die break on reverse, otherwise, good fine.

From the Collection of Prof. James M. Collier, acquired in 1992.

This lot is sold to benefit the Collier Prize in Ancient Numismatics offered by the American Numismatic Society.
