KYRENAIKA. Kyrene. Circa 480-435 BC. Obol (Silver, 8 mm, 0.58 g, 9 h). Silphium plant with four leaves (two on each side) and five flowers (one at the top and one between each pair of leaves). Rev. Head of Zeus Ammon to right, with ram's horn; all within circular dotted border within shallow incuse square. SNG Copenhagen 1181. Cf. BMC 58 (hemidrachm). Very rare. Toned. Porous surfaces, otherwise, very fine.
