Description

Divus Augustus, died in AD 14. As (Bronze, 28 mm, 11.49 g, 7 h), Struck under Tiberius, Rome, 22/23-30. DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER Radiate head of Divus Augustus to left. Rev. PROVIDENT Altar with double-paneled doors; across fields, S-C. RIC I 81. Green patina. Minor scratches, otherwise, good very fine.

From the Collection of Prof. James M. Collier, acquired in Amsterdam, in 2009.

This lot is sold to benefit the Collier Prize in Ancient Numismatics offered by the American Numismatic Society.
