★ Extremely rare brockage ★

MESOPOTAMIA. Carrhae. Caracalla, 198-217. (Bronze, 21.5 mm, 6.15 g). AYT K MA AN-T[...] Laureate and draped bust of Caracalla to right; below, eagle flying to right with head turned back to left. Rev. Brockage of the obverse. Cf. RPC V.3 75062 ID ( same obverse die ). Brockage of an obverse die associated with an extremely rare type with only one known example to RPC. Very fine.

From the Collection of Prof. James M. Collier, acquired in New York, in Christmas 1952, as a gift from his father, S.M. Collier.

This lot is sold to benefit the Collier Prize in Ancient Numismatics offered by the American Numismatic Society.
