Theodosius II, 402-450. Solidus (Gold, 21.5 mm, 4.49 g, 6 h), Constantinople, I = 10th officina, 430-440. D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG Helmeted, pearl diademed, and cuirassed bust of Theodosius II facing slightly to right, holding spear over his right shoulder and shield emblazoned with horseman spearing fallen enemy. Rev. VOT XXX - MVLT XXXX I / CONOB Constantinopolis seated to left, resting her left foot on prow and resting her left arm on grounded shield, holding globus cruciger with her right hand and sceptre with her left; in field to right, star. Depeyrot 81/1. RIC 257. Boldly struck and attractive. Minor edge ding, otherwise, good extremely fine.
