Description

Maximianus, first reign, 286-305. Argenteus (Silver, 19 mm, 2.99 g, 6 h), Ticinum, circa 295. MAXIMIA-NVS AVG Laureate head of Maximianus to right. Rev. VICTORIA SARMAT Four tetrarchs sacrificing over a tripod altar before the gate of camp with six turrets. Jelocnik 37. RIC 16b. Nicely struck and attractively toned. Extremely fine.

From a European collection, acquired privately from J. Elsen in Bruxelles in 1988.
