Description

PAPHLAGONIA. Sinope. Marcus Aurelius, 161-180. (Bronze, 28.5 mm, 15.09 g, 8 h). IMP AVREL A-NTONINO AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Marcus Aurelius to right, seen from behind. Rev. IMP AVREL ANTONINO AVG Laureate and draped bust of Sarapis to right, wearing kalathos. RG I.1 115. RPC Online IV.1 4940. Very rare and probably the finest example known. Brown patina with earthen highlights. Extremely fine.
