Description

Hadrian, 117-138. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 35.5 mm, 23.68 g, 6 h), Rome, 118. IMP CAESAR TRAIANVS HADRIANVS AVG Laureate bust of Hadrian to right, slight drapery over his far shoulder. Rev. PONT MAX TR POT COS II / S - C / ADVENTVS AVG Roma seated to right on a cuirass, holding spear with her left hand and clasping, with her right, the right hand of Hadrian, togate, standing facing, turned to the left, holding a mappa with his left hand. BMC 1120. Cohen 91. RIC II.3, 158. With an excellent early portrait and an attractive dark tan patina. About extremely fine.
