Nerva, 96-98. As (Orichalcum, 26.5 mm, 11.16 g, 6 h), Rome, late 96. IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P COS II DESIGN III P P Laureate head of Nerva to right. Rev. LIBERTAS - PVBLICA / S - C Libertas standing head to left, holding pileus with her outstretched right hand and vindicta (liberation rod) with her left. BMC, p. 18 ( citing the Paris example ). BN 94. MAST 4.83 ( this coin ). RIC 76. A splendid coin with a remarkably fine portrait, engraved by a master die cutter. With a fine, matte, greenish black patina. Good very fine.
