Description

Nero, AD 54-68. As (Bronze, 26 mm, 9.19 g, 6 h), Rome, 63. NERO CL[AVD]IVS CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS Radiate head of Nero to right. Rev. PONTIF MAX TR POT IMP P P Nero, wearing long robes as Apollo Citharoedus, walking to right, playing lyre. BMC 256. RIC 123. WCN 259. Rare, struck from beautifully engraved dies of fine style, and with a lovely reddish-gold patina. Some roughness, otherwise, about extremely fine.
