Description

ARKADIA. Tegea. Circa 370-350 BC. Dichalkon (Bronze, 16 mm, 3.99 g, 6 h). Head of Athena Alea to right, wearing crested Attic helmet ornamented with Tirton extending his left hand and hurling a rock with his right. Rev. ΤΕΓΕ Owl standing to right on olive branch; to right, palm branch. Cf. BCD Peloponnesos 1727 ( owl to left ). Cf. BCD Peloponnesos 1728 ( no legends ). Extremely rare; attractive green patina. Good very fine.
