Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip III Arrhidaios, 323-317 BC. Stater (Gold, 18 mm, 8.57 g, 3 h), Babylon. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet ornamented with a coiled serpent. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠOY / BAΣIΛEΩΣ Nike standing to left, holding a wreath in her outstretched right hand and a stylis with her left; in the field to left, M; beneath Nike's right wing, ΛY. HGC 3.1, 970b. Price P179. Well struck and attractive. Light marks, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
