Description

KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. AE (Bronze, 19 mm, 6.49 g, 9 h), posthumous issue, uncertain mint in western Asia Minor, circa 323-310. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ Bow in bowcase, club and torch with a fillet. HGC 3.1, 951. Price 2800. SNG München 919. Attractive black patina. Areas of roughness, otherwise, extremely fine.
