Description

MACEDON. Akanthos. 440-430 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 30 mm, 17.27 g, 7 h). Lion to right, attacking bull collapsing to left; in the exergue, fish swimming to left. Rev. ΑΚΑ-Ν-ΘΙΟ-Ν Quadripartite square with granulated surfaces; all within shallow incuse square. HGC 3.1, 385. Tselekas 283 var. (O253/R-, unrecorded reverse die ) = Desneux 96 ( this obverse die ) = Weber 1893 ( this obverse die ). Toned. Light marks, and minor die rust, otherwise, good very fine.
