Description

SICILY. Syracuse. Hieron II, 275-215 BC. Tetras (Bronze, 22.5 mm, 8.97 g, 3 h), circa 240-215. Head of Poseidon to left, wearing taenia. Rev. IEP - ΩΝΟΣ Ornamented trident; to left and right, dolphin swimming downwards; to lower left, HP monogram. BAR issue 75. CNS II 194. HGC 2, 1550. Attractive green patina. Minor pitting on reverse, otherwise, about extremely fine.
