Description

BRUTTIUM. Kaulonia. Circa 475-425 BC. Nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 8.16 g, 1 h). KAVΛ Apollo, nude, advancing to right, holding laurel branch with his upraised right hand and with a daimon running to left on his outstretched left arm; in the field to right, stag standing to right, head turned back to left. Rev. KAVΛ ( retrograde ) Stag standing to right; to right, laurel branch. HN III 2046. Noe, Caulonia, 93 ( same dies ). SNG ANS 180 ( same dies ). Deeply toned and well-struck. Slightly porous and with some edge faults, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
