Description
GAUL. Massalia. Circa 150-125 BC. Drachm (Silver, 16 mm, 2.55 g, 6 h), Light Standard. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis to right, wearing pendant earring and pearl necklace, and with her bow and quiver over her shoulder. Rev. MAΣΣA / ΛIHTΩN Lion prowling to right; in field to right, Η/Δ. BN 976-979. F/Py DRM 37-11. Attractive, toned and sharply struck. On a tight flan, otherwise, about extremely fine.
From the Montecristo Collection, acquired from Leu Numismatics in Zürich in 1994.
