LOWER DANUBE REGION. Imitation of Thasos. Late 2nd-1st century BC. Tetradrachm (Bronze, with contempoary silver plating, 32.5 mm, 15.57 g, 12 h), Fouree. Stylized head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΘΑΣΙΩΝ Stylized Herakles standing facing, head to left, resting his right hand on grounded club and carrying lion skin over his left arm; in inner left field, monogram. Cf. OTA Class II ( for prototype ). Minor scratches and marks; small area of exposed core on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
