LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 340-330 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 20 mm, 7.94 g, 9 h). Bearded head of Leukippos to right, wearing Corinthian helmet; behind, lion’s head to right. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Barley ear with leaf to left; above leaf, vertical club with head below; below leaf, ΑΜΙ. HN III 1575. Johnston cf. B 2.2. SNG ANS 434 ( same dies ). Lightly toned, sharp and attractive with an elegant head of Leukippos. Minor marks, struck on a slightly tight flan and with a very minor die break on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
