Description

BRUTTIUM. Terina. Circa 440-425 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 22 mm, 7.71 g, 10 h). Head of the nymph Terina to left, her rolled hair bound by a band over her forehead, wearing a pearl necklace with a pendant; around, olive wreath. Rev. [ΤΕΡΙ]ΝΑΙΟΝ Nike seated to left on a large hydria, lying on its side and with its mouth to left, holding a wreath in her right hand and a kerykeion in her left. HN III 2575. Holloway & Jenkins 12 ( same dies ). Kraay & Hirmer 273 ( same obverse die ). Regling 9. SNG ANS 801 ( same dies ). Very well-struck from dies of fine style. Toned and most attractive. Extremely fine.
