Léon Lacroix (1909-2016) was a Belgian scholar recognized for his articles and various books on Greek history, numismatics, and iconography. He served as professor of Greek archaeology and art history at the University of Liége for over 25 years. He was well-known for his influential work 'Les reproductions de statues sur les monnaies grecques: la statuaire archaique et classique' (Liége, 1949).

Robert L. Grover (1910-1998) donated his extensive collection of the coins of Alexandria to the Art Institute of Chicago during the years of 1978-1984. Though some of these coins were ultimately deaccessioned, including those now offered by Nomos, much of his collection remains in the possession of the AIC.
