LOW COUNTRIES. Amsterdam. 1623 - 1645. (Bronze, 15 x 15 mm, 2.95 g), coin weight of one Cruzado d’oro (Portugal), Jan Kaan or Kaen, maker, dated 1639. Cross within tetralobe embelished with pellets; filled annulet in each quarter; all within circle of perls. Rev. Hammer; flanked by 16-39 and I-K; all within wreath. Somewhat rough surfaces, otherwise, good very fine.

Jan Kaen (or Kaan) was active as maker of coin weights in Amsterdam between 1623 and 1645. Among many other types he produced weights for 1, 2 and 4 cruzado pieces.
