MEROVINGIANS. Uncertain mint. Circa 7th century. Triens (Gold, 13 mm, 1.22 g, 6 h). IC[...]EW[.] Diademed and draped bust to right. Rev. [...]IOMON Cross on two steps within circleof pellets ending in pendent with dot in its centre; in lower quarters, A-C ( retrograd ). Unpublished in the standard references and from an uncertain mint, but maybe based on an issue by moneyer Vvintro from Chalon-sur-Saone. Extremely rare, and possibly unique. Minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.
