MEROVINGIANS, Vienne. Poitiers. Circa 700-750. Denier (Silver, 12 mm, 1.05 g, 8 h), Audolenus, moneyer. PECTAVIS CIVI Diademed head to right; below, cross. Rev. +OALDOLENO ( retrograd Cross on a base of two steps; in the upper quarters of the cross, pellet; the ends of the horizontal bar turned downwards, resembling the letter 'G'. Apparently unpublished, except for its appearance in the online shop of CGB, but cf. Belfort 3620 = Depeyrot p.111, 52 ( different obverse legend ). Struck on a somewhat narrow flan, otherwise, extremely fine.
