MEROVINGIANS, Mayenne. Jublains. Circa 700-725. Denier (Silver, 11 mm, 1.10 g). Uncertain legend Horse to right; below, cross. Rev. [D]IABLEN[T] Cross on two steps; at top and ends of horizontal bar, two pellets each. Belfort 1736 var. ( legend ). Depeyrot 70, 1 var. ( same ). This issue clearly belongs to Jublains. However, our mostly illegible obverse legends clearly do not match those provided by Belfort & Depeyrot. Toned. Very rare, and unpublished variant. Minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.
