MEROVINGIANS, Moselle. Vic-sur-Seille. Circa 620-640. Triens (Pale Gold, 13 mm, 1.24 g, 12 h), Madelinus, moneyer. BODEISION (VI)C AT Diademed and draped bust to right; with a large star on the vestment. Rev. +MADELINO MONE around a circular border of small triangles, with points to left, enclosing a Greek cross with C-A (retrograde) in the lower quarters. Apparently unpublished variant, but cf. Belfort 888 = Depeyrot II, p.114, 4. Hairline flan-crack at 4h, otherwise, about extremely fine.
