BYZANTINE SEALS. Theophanes, circa 11th century. Seal or Bulla (Lead, 19 mm, 5.26 g, 12 h), 11th century. MP - ΘV Bust of the Virgin facing, nimbate, wearing pallium and maphorium, holding in both hands medallion of infant Christ. Rev. ΘΚΕ ΒΘ / ΤΩ CΩ Δ / ΘEOΦA/NH in five lines within dotted circle border. Cf. BZS.1951.31.5.2785. Miss-struck area at the side, otherwise, about very fine.
