From a European collection formed before 2005.

The name Μοιρις Moiris, found inscribed on the obverse of this coin, is an unusual one. It is best known as the Greek version of the Egyptian king's name Amenemhet III. as used by Herodotus. The fact that the name is also found on coins from the Tauric Chersonesos makes it possible that the name is, in actuality, connected to the northern Black Sea area. It is also possible that this Moiris should be connected to the Thessalian cloth merchants, Χαννης και Μοιρις, who are known from epigraphic texts dating to the later 4th century.
