Description

Divus Antoninus Pius, died 161. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.26 g, 5 h), Rome, struck under Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus, 161. DIVVS ANTONINVS Bare head of Antoninus Pius to right, with slight drapery over his left shoulder. Rev. CONSECRATIO Funeral pyre of four tiers, decorated with garlands, surmounted by facing quadriga. BMC ( M. Aurelius ) 60. RIC ( M. Aurelius ) 438. RSC 164a. Light toning. Virtually as struck.
